Criteria
Starting 7th January 2013
First prize: $3,000 and an exhibition at Aperture. Feature on Aperture's website for approx. 1 year, accompanied by a brief editorial statement.
5 runners up: Feature on Aperture's website for approx. 1 year, accompanied by a brief editorial statement.
Provide the following:
- 15 images with title/caption information.
- Resume/CV.
- Statement of up to 250 words about your work.
- Aperture magazine print or digital subscriber number.
- $25 entry fee, payable during the online entry process.
Criteria considered by the editors/staff:
- Created in the last five years.
- Theme/topic is carried throughout the images (up to 15), consistently.
- Strong composition, use of colour/tone.
- Technical and presentational choices made by the photographer, are they appropriate for the work?
- Does the body of work take an innovative or unique approach to the subject matter?

Three age categories:
- 16-22
- 23-30
- 31+
Criteria:
Submit 10 photographs in response to ONE of the following themes:
- Journey
- Human Relationships
- Climate
- Memory
- Conflict
The 10 photographs must demonstrate your ability to tell a story with your images.
To apply you must create an account on the website and upload your 10 images to your IdeasTap portfolio, in a clearly labelled folder.
Download and fill in an application form (attached). Save it with your name and chosen theme as the file name. Do not leave any fields blank - incomplete applications will be ineligible.
Prizes:
The competition has three overall winners - one from each age category. 18 shortlisters will also be chosen - 6 from each age category.
The shortlisted applicants will receive a mentoring session with a Magnum Photographer, Blurb book vouchers and £150 to have their pictures printed. Over 6 weeks they will be encouraged to enhance and develop their projects. Their photographs will be framed and included in an exhibition in the autumn. At the exhibition, nine finalists will be selected - three from each age group. The nine finalists will each receive £1500 to shoot the dream project, create a multimedia Magnum in Motion project and will receive a second mentoring session.
Finally, a winner will be picked from each age group. The overall winners of the Award will each receive £5000 and the two younger winners will also get internships at Magnum - the 16-22 winner in London and the 23-30 winner with the international Magnum in Motion Team.

Entrants must submit no more than one image per category, however may enter as many categories as they wish.
